Good News! As of July 1, 2005, ATV's and off-road motorcycles must be titled in the State of Oklahoma, and we no longer have to charge sales tax when we sell a unit. ATVs now can be registered at the tag office. When you purchase an off-road vehicle you no longer have to pay sales tax, you will receive a certificate of origin on a new machine, or a title on a used machine, which you must register at the tag office and pay excise tax. If you have a farm tax exemption number, you are still exempt from the excise tax. The registration fee is $11.00 and the title fee is $11.00.
If you already own an off-road vehicle prior to July 1, 2005, you can go to the tag office, complete an affidavit of ownership and register and title your machine for $22.00.
This method will allow the tracking of your machine if it is stolen. This law puts us even with the surrounding states and includes these off-road vehicles with other motorized vehicles.
